Monday’s Workout

My alarm went off at 4:20 a.m., jolting me out of a dream. And in that dream, I was blogging.

I need to get a life.

Today's WOD -- after the jump...

Strength Skill:
My plan was to work on my form today -- but I gradually let my attention drift, and by the time I got to my final set, my technique was a sloppy mess.

“Keep your chest up,” Tim reminded me. “You’re rounding your back.” Not good.

Thankfully, today’s the first day of the cycle -- I’ll have a couple more shots to get my head screwed on straight and work towards a new power clean PR.

Metcon:

Just because we’re back to short(er) metcons this week doesn’t mean they’re any easier. They just get faster.
4 rounds for time:
  • 10 power snatches
  • 10 toes-to-bar
My snatch ain’t pretty (that’swhatshesaid), but after Tim’s admonition to be more mindful of my form, I decided to focus on: (1) getting aggressive with the lift, and (2) sticking the landing before standing up. It may have slowed me down a bit, but for the most part, my snatches felt solid.

The only hitch: After a few rounds of snatches and toes-to-bar, my forearms were killing me. I kept dropping off the bar to shake out my arms -- something I don’t typically have to do while cranking out toes-to-bars or knees-to-elbows.

Guess who needs to work on his grip strength?

Result: 7:40
