And honestly, the first three rounds weren't too bad. Yes, the handstand push-ups were getting increasing difficult as the workout progressed, but I was still well ahead of most of my classmates -- that is, until the fourth and final round. That's when my ability to crank out HSPUs just up and disappeared, and I couldn't seem to get it back. I struggled through my last six reps, performing them (barely) as singles. It took forever, and they were far from pretty.
Here's how it went down: Of the nine people in class (another new 5 a.m. attendance record!), I was in a respectable third place after the first round, a still-decent fourth place after the second round, a middle-of-the-pack fifth place after the third round, and DEAD LAST at the end. Result: 19:53.
But hey: It's good to get utterly humiliated by a workout once in a while, right?
