Test Driving CrossFit

In the spirit of lifting heavy things and doing occasional sprints, my wife has started doing some CrossFit-esque WODs at home.

Tonight, after tucking the kids into bed, M ducked into our garage, did some band-assisted pull-ups, threw some weights on the barbell, and cranked out a few low-rep sets of sumo deadlift high pulls. When she was done, she grabbed a kettlebell and went outside. It had rained today, so the sidewalks were slick, but M was determined to squeeze in a quick metcon session before work.

Here's what she did:

For time:
  • 10 overhead kettlebell swings
  • Run 100 meters
  • 9 overhead kettlebell swings
  • Run 100 meters
  • 8 overhead kettlebell swings
  • Run 100 meters
  • 7 overhead kettlebell swings
  • Run 100 meters
  • 6 overhead kettlebell swings
  • Run 100 meters
  • 5 overhead kettlebell swings
  • Run 100 meters
  • 4 overhead kettlebell swings
  • Run 100 meters
  • 3 overhead kettlebell swings
  • Run 100 meters
  • 2 overhead kettlebell swings
  • Run 100 meters
  • 1 overhead kettlebell swing
  • Run 100 meters
She killed it, finishing in 7:59.

And did I mention that she learned to swing a kettlebell just a few days ago?
